It is strained into a glass containing ice cubes and topped with soda or sparkling water. This cocktail is also called a Tom Collins or Gin Collins if it is served in a larger glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The classic <strong>Gin &amp; tonic<\/strong> was developed in the British colonies. English settlers mixed quinine (a drug used to fight malaria) with gin and tonic to mask its very bitter taste. This three-ingredient cocktail is very simple and can be easily made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A classic gin and tonic requires mixing ice cubes, gin and cold tonic.
