Gin & Tonic Vs Gin Fizz : What is the difference?

Gin Fizz and Gin & Tonic are two types of cocktails that are quite often confused.

In its simplest version, a Gin Fizz is a gin shaken with ice cubes, lemon juice and sugar syrup. It is strained into a glass containing ice cubes and topped with soda or sparkling water. This cocktail is also called a Tom Collins or Gin Collins if it is served in a larger glass.

The classic Gin & tonic was developed in the British colonies. English settlers mixed quinine (a drug used to fight malaria) with gin and tonic to mask its very bitter taste. This three-ingredient cocktail is very simple and can be easily made.

A classic gin and tonic requires mixing ice cubes, gin and cold tonic. You can add a wedge of lemon or a lemon zest as a filling.

The main difference between the two cocktails is the addition of sugar and lemon juice to a Gin Fizz.

The aromatic palate of our Gin Mistello opens out in a Gin & tonic, with a slightly sweet tonic or, failing that, with sparkling water with a few drops of lemon.
